Message Who can I complain to? When she rejected their quote they tried to charge her a $95 work fee. I'm a little pissed and would appreciate suggestions on how to get back at this dealership.

Long story but if interested:

My girlfriend contacted Landmark Jeep/Eagle in North County to have her timing belt, Water Pump, Cam/Crank Seal, and Tensioner replaced. She was quoted $375 for the timing belt/labor, $75 for water pump, $10-15 for the seals, and $25 for the tensioner. She also needed the CV boots replaced or the entire axel if needed and was told that was around $400 if they had to replace both axils. I took her to drop off the car Tuesday night for them to make the repairs Wednesday. She was told they would call her with the exact total before doing the work.

About 2pm yesterday she called them back because she had not herd from them. At that time she was told it was going to be $1600 for the same work she was quoted $865 for the day before.

Needless to say she freaked out and told them to leave the car alone and she would come up there to see the bid. There was nothing new on the bid, just timing belt and axils. When we questioned them about the price they said there was nothing wrong with their bid and that they were doing her a favor by discounting the labor. When we tried to get out of there they wouldn’t give us the keys until she paid a $95 work fee. At that point my GF just about started crying. I asked to see the manager and he told us it was only fair for them to get paid for the work they did to come up with the bid.

We got the car out of there after about 1hr of trying to reason with a corrupt service manager. Luckily another customers walked in to drop off their car which is when the service manager gave up and finally gave her the keys and waved the $95 rip off fee. They told her they would check the bid in the morning and call her back. They called back this morning and told her there was nothing wrong with their bid and the prices were final.

Anyone else think they were trying to rip her off? I'm now debating on calling the BBB or the Jeep Eagle corporate offices to file a complaint. Any suggestions, were they trying to rip her off (obviously) and is there anything I can do to keep them from doing this to other customers in the future?
Thanks,
John
